We continue to enhance our NITRO Studio, giving power users further capabilities when creating applications, improving business processes, and integrating with other systems. One new feature we want to highlight is the new REST API feature in our Custom Actions and NITRO Workflows.
The REST API feature extends NITRO Studio to almost limitless capabilities. You can now leverage direct connections, via APIs, to numerous resources on the web and locally. For example, if you want to upload a document to Dropbox, they have an API for that. If you want to download data from SalesForce, there’s an API for that.
Basically, anything you can do with premium connectors for Microsoft Flow Power Automate, you can now do with our REST API feature. This means that by using NITRO Studio, you do not incur the “per flow” costs of Power Automate and can keep your workflow expenses down substantially.
Here’s a quick rundown on how it works:
Create an “app” in the external system (such as Dropbox, QuickBooks, Salesforce, etc.) and get the API keys for whatever service you wish to connect with. Usually, the service provides extensive documentation on the APIs. For example, here’s a link to what you can do with Dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/developers/documentation/http/documentation
QuickBooks has similar documentation: https://www.developer.intuit.com/app/developer/qbo/docs/api/accounting/most-commonly-used/account
Here’s a link for SalesForce: https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/api-explorer
Most other cloud services have similar web hooks with APIs that can run simple or complex processes. If you’re having trouble finding the API resources for a given service or just simply don’t know where to start, you can contact the service or use Google (or DuckDuckGo, if that’s your jam) to find the details.
